October 2019, Bandar Lampung City experienced a deflation of 0.09 percent due to a decrease in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 139.30 in September 2019 to 139.17 in October 2019. Of the seven expenditure groups in Bandar Lampung, two groups, namely foodstuffs group that experienced deflation (decrease in index), which was 2.08 percent; and clothing group 0.04 percent. On the other hand, five other groups experienced inflation or an increase in index, namely the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group by 2.30 percent; the health group 0.12 percent; the transportation, communication and financial services group 0.02 percent; the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group; and the education, recreation and sports group respectively by 0.01 percent.
The contribution of the general expenditure group in the formation of deflation in October 2019 was 0.09 percent. One expenditure group that is, the foodstuffs group contributed to the formation of deflation by 0.51 percent. On the contrary, two groups, namely the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco groups contributed to the formation of inflation by 0.40 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group; and the health group contributed to the formation of inflation by 0.01 percent each. Meanwhile, the clothing group, the education, recreation and sports group, and the transportation, communication and financial services group did not contribute to the formation of inflation or deflation.
