September 2018, Bandar Lampung City experienced a deflation of 0.20 percent due to a decrease in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 134.63 in August 2018 to 134.36 in September 2018. Five expenditure groups experienced inflation in Bandar Lampung City, namely the group processed food, beverages, cigarettes & tobacco which rose by 1.04 percent, housing group 0.04 percent, clothing 0.24 percent and health services 1.49 percent. In contrast, the other two groups experienced a deflation or decline in the index, namely the foodstuff group by 2.20 percent; and the transport, communication and financial services group 0.02 percent.
The contribution of expenditure groups in the formation of deflation in September 2018 was from the foodstuff group of 0.53 percent; In contrast, there were five groups that contributed to the formation of inflation, namely the processed food, beverages, cigarettes & tobacco group with a share of 0.18 percent; housing group by 0.01 percent; clothing group by 0.01 percent; health services group 0.07 percent; education, recreation and sports groups by 0.07 percent. The transport, communication and financial services group did not contribute to the formation of 0.01 percent deflation.
Some dominant commodities contribute to the formation of deflation including red chili, tomato vegetable, cung kediro, chicken meat, onion, chicken eggs, cucumber, garlic, squid and kangkung (water spinach).
