September 2019, Bandar Lampung City experienced a deflation of 0.18 percent due to a decrease in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 139.55 in August 2019 to 139.30 in September 2019. Of the seven expenditure groups in Bandar Lampung, only the foodstuffs group which experienced deflation (decreasing index), which was 3.06 percent. On the other hand, six other groups experienced inflation or an increase in index, namely the education, recreation and sports group by 6.07 percent; clothing group 0.48 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group 0.25 percent; health group 0.22 percent; transport, communication and financial services group 0.11 percent; and processed foods, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco 0.06 percent.
The contribution of the general expenditure group in the formation of deflation in September 2019 was 0.18 percent. One expenditure group that is, the foodstuffs group contributed to the formation of deflation of 0.77 percent. On the other hand, six other groups, namely the education, recreation and sports group contributed to the formation of inflation by 0.46 percent; followed by housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel by 0.07 percent; processed foods, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group 0.02 percent; clothing group 0.02 percent; health group 0.01 percent; and transportation, communication and financial services 0.01 percent.
Some dominant commodities contributed to the formation of deflation or to curb the inflation rate in September 2019 including: red chili 0.50 percent; shallots 0.18 percent; vegetable tomatoes 0.05 percent; purebred chicken eggs 0.03 percent; cayenne pepper 0.03 percent; cucumbers 0.02 percent; 0.02 percent petai; garlic 0.02 percent; cung kediro 0.01 percent; and live chickens 0.01 percent.
