March 2019, Bandar Lampung City experienced inflation of 0.35 percent due to an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 135.02 in February 2019 to 135.49 in March 2019. Of the seven expenditure groups, four groups experienced inflation or an increase in the index in Bandar Lampung City, namely the foodstuffs group experienced inflation of 1.15 percent; transport, communication and financial services group 0.55 percent; processed food, beverages, tobacco and cigarettes groups 0.08 percent; and clothing group 0.05 percent. In contrast, the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group experienced deflation (a decrease in the index) of 0.05 percent and the health group 0.12 percent. Meanwhile, the education, recreation and sports groups did not experience changes in the index.
The contribution of the general expenditure group in the formation of inflation in March 2019 was 0.35 percent. The four expenditure groups, namely, the foodstuffs group contributed to the formation of inflation by 0.26 percent; transport, communication and financial services group 0.09 percent; the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group and the clothing group each contributed inflation of 0.01 percent. Conversely, housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel groups; and the health group contributed a deflation of 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the education, recreation and sports groups did not experience changes in the index.
Some of the dominant commodities contribute to the formation of inflation in March 2019 including: vegetable tomatoes 0.14 percent; shallots 0.12 percent; cungro 0.07 percent; maintenance / service 0.07 percent; 0.07 percent red chili; 0.06 percent garlic; 0.02 percent race chicken meat; sugar 0.01 percent; light vehicle repairs of 0.01 percent; and jengkol 0.01 percent.
