February 2019, Bandar Lampung City experienced a deflation of 0.33 percent due to a decrease in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 135.47 in January 2019 to 135.02 in February 2019. Of the seven expenditure groups, two groups experienced deflation or a decrease in the index The city of Bandar Lampung, namely the foodstuffs group experienced a deflation of 2.40 percent and the transport, communication and financial services group 0.11 percent. In contrast, processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco groups experienced inflation of 1.24 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group 0.05 percent; and the health group 0.43 percent. Meanwhile, education, recreation and sports groups; and the clothing group did not experience changes in the index.
The group's general contribution to the formation of deflation in February 2019 was 0.33 percent. The two expenditure groups, namely, the foodstuffs group contributed to the formation of deflation of 0.57 percent; and the transport, communication and financial services group 0.02 percent. Conversely, the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group contributed to the formation of inflation by 0.22 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group 0.02 percent; and the health group 0.02 percent. Meanwhile, clothing and education, recreation and sports groups did not experience changes in the index.
Some of the dominant commodities contributed to the formation of deflation in February 2019 including: red chili 0.18 percent; 0.13 percent rice; shallots 0.08 percent; 0.07 percent orange; 0.06 percent chicken eggs; 0.02 percent garlic; jengkol 0.02 percent; 0.02 percent gasoline; cooking oil 0.01 percent; and cayenne pepper 0.01 percent.
