August 2018, Bandar Lampung City experienced inflation of 0.05 percent due to an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 134.56 in July 2018 to 134.63 in August 2018. Only two expenditure groups experienced deflation in Bandar Lampung City, namely the foodstuffs group fell by 1.41 percent and the transport, communication and financial services group 0.06 percent. In contrast, the other five groups experienced inflation or an increase in the index, namely the education, recreation and sports group which rose by 3.83 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group 0.37 percent; clothing group 0.16 percent; health group 0.06 percent; group of processed foods, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco 0.05 percent.
The contribution of expenditure groups in the inflation formation in August 2018 is from the education, recreation and sports group by 0.29 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group 0.10 percent; and the processed food group, drinks 0.01 percent. In contrast, there were two groups that contributed to the formation of deflation, namely the foodstuff group with a share of 0.34 percent and the transportation, communication and financial services group of 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, clothing and health groups did not contribute to the formation of inflation or deflation.
Some dominant commodities contributed to the formation of inflation including junior high schools, high schools, brick / stone, rice, elementary schools, chicken meat, squid, kindergartens, household wages, and cucumbers.
